Many years ago, in my teens, I stopped reading. I've never really been sure why, but I did. However, a very persistent friend of mine wasn't about to let this lie and gifted me a new book each birthday and Christmas for the next few years. I started to read all of them, but rarely got past the first chapter. Then, after about six years, he gifted me "The Wasp Factory". I read it cover to cover, followed up with several more of Iain's books, and never stopped reading again.
